Perfect as a handy addition to the workshop, this little hardened steel, four-sided, SCA Thread File Bar will help you repair and clean up damaged or rusty metal thread pitches within machines and vehicles. It's great for applications involving repairing and cleaning external threads on axles, shock bolts, steering head shafts and more. This Metric sized bar has the various pitch sizes marked on the centre of the tool. Included sizes are 0.8, 1, 1.25, 1.5, 1.75, 2, 2.5 and 3mm.
Simply match up the correct pitch size on the filing bar with the corresponding bolt thread of the machine/vehicle. Ensure there is plenty of light in your workspace so you don't encounter any issues with lining up the correct side. You should notice no light can shine through if the correct pitch size on the file bar is lined up against the intended bolt thread. If light does shine through the size does not match. Once the right size is found, file the threads with a medium amount of pressure. Begin filing on a section next to the damaged area and file around the bolt towards that section. Remember to check your progress intermittently, so as not to file away too much of the material
