The ToolPRO Brake Adjusting tool features a taper at each end, one with a small angle and the other at a larger angle to cover a wide range of brake designs. It is cast from drop forged and heat treated steel to resist wear and tear. For park brake setups, or drum brakes without an auto adjuster this tool helps you make an adjustment in minutes. First, jack the wheel and support it off the ground with axle stands. On the inner side of the drum assembly should be a dust cap. Remove this and insert the brake adjuster through the hole. The aim is to catch the cogged adjuster and lever the brake adjuster tool to increase the tension. When you spin the wheel by hand, there should be slight resistance felt and the wheel should free spin about one revolution. Keep rotating the brake adjustment mechanism until this is correct. In some instances when removing a brake drum the brake shoes may catch the edge of the drum making it difficult to remove, using the brake adjusting tool to loosen the adjustment mechanism will help with this.
