SCA Etch Primer is a versatile product and a mut have for your DIY paint preparation needs. Etch primer is a fast-drying grey primer designed to ‘etch’ into surfaces to improve paint adhesion, ideal for non-ferrous metals such as aluminium. SCA Etch Primer can be used on a wide range of metals including mild steel, aluminium, zincalume, galvanized iron, chrome, copper, brass, stainless steel and even more. It can also be top coated with most finishes including enamels, epoxies, lacquers, polyurethanes, acrylics or chlorinated rubber.
SCA Etch Primer needs to be in direct contact with the metal surface and will need to be thoroughly cleared of any paint, rust, rough textures or metal fillings. Then soak a cloth with SCA Multi-Purpose Thinners to remove any traces of grease, oil and dirt residue and allow to completely dry.
