How To Install Seat Covers
Overview
The range of seat covers from Supercheap Auto are designed to be super easy to install. Here’s how to perform the job in the comfort of your own driveway or shed.
Here's how it's done.
Steps
Assessment
Before you begin, ensure that all of the necessary pieces for your seat covers are present.
Read through the safety and installation instructions, and if your front seats have airbags fitted – be sure to determine the correct side for each seat cover.
You may also wish to give your seats a quick vacuum before they are covered.
Place Covers On
Size 60 or 60/25 seat covers can simply be slipped straight over the head rest. However, if you are fitting size 30 or thirty forty five as in this video – the head rests must be removed.
Place these to one side and proceed to pull the cover over the seat back. Before you pull the bottom half over the base of the seat, locate the straps underneath the seat cover and poke these through the back of the seat, down the sides and underneath the front.
There are generally four and sometimes six of these depending on your seat cover.
Secure Covers
Now the seat cover can be pulled over the base of your seat. Reach underneath and locate each strap from the previous step.
Once again, the fastening method varies between Velcro, tie up and clip together; depending on your seat cover. Ensure the seat cover is tucked nicely to your liking before fastening the clips together and tightening them up.
This will help to pull the seat cover into the contours of the seat.
Fit the Head Rest
The final step is to fit the head rest piece which can be done with the head rest removed - or installed back on the seat.
Easy as that that, your new seat covers provide a new look and feel to your vehicle.
Some types of cover may not contour perfectly with the seat at first, but after some use they will settle into place perfectly.
