Overview
Whether you love washing your car or find it a chore, nobody can deny the chunk it takes from your day. However, if you know how to use a snow foam cannon you can cut your wash time in half, keep your paint looking super, and save water in the process! Let’s get straight into how to use a foam cannon for a touch free car wash.
Why choose a touch free car wash?
1: It’s a time saver.Once you know how to use a foam cannon you can have your whole car washed and dried in as little as 15 minutes!
2: Preserve your paint.
Each time you wash your car by hand there are tiny particles trapped between your hand and the paint causing swirl marks. Using the right technique will reduce this, but if you can avoid touching it you are prolonging the shine of your paintwork.
Is a touch free car wash any good?
Yes! If you know how to use a snow foam cannon, and when to use it – your car will come up just as clean as traditional car wash methods. For the touch free car wash method to work effectively, your car should meet the following criteria:Well maintained paint job with regular weekly washes OR the car is garaged and driven only on special occasions.
You keep up with regular waxing, ceramic coating, or other paint protection routines.
The paint must not be heavily soiled (Mud, Tar or very heavy road grime)
If this sounds like your car, a touch free car wash is going to work SUPER! You will only have to turn back to the bucket and sponge for every third or fourth wash just to keep the thicker filth in check.
How to use a snow foam cannon
To use a snow foam cannon properly, you’ll need a pressure cleaner. This is essential to create plenty of foam. You’ll also need a car wash product specifically designed to be used in a snow foam cannon. Regular car washes lack the properties required to create thick, long-lasting foam. The final thing you’ll need is the snow foam cannon itself. Make sure the one you choose is compatible with your pressure cleaner.Items
Steps
Rinse your car
Park your car up on the lawn, under the shade if possible; or else aim for an early morning or late afternoon wash.
Fire up your pressure cleaner and work your way from top to bottom to remove the worst of the filth.
This should take about 2 minutes, then you’re ready for the next step.
How to use a foam cannon
Grab your snow foam wash and mix this into your snow foam cannon. Mix this with some water to the recommended dilution rate.
Now snap the foam cannon onto your pressure cleaner, squeeze the trigger, and let the foam fly. It’s super satisfying!
Cover every part of your car in foam. Then allow the foam to cling or ‘dwell’ for two to five minutes while you equip your pressure cleaner for a rinse. Do not allow the foam to dry on your car.
Another rinse
Blast all the foam and grime away with the pressure cleaner just like you did in step 1, only this time it’s MUCH more fun.
Protective coating
This step is optional, but going the extra mile will give your paint that extra shine AND make it harder for the dirt to stick, thereby making your next wash much easier.
Simply mix your protectant solution as recommended on the product label and apply it using the same technique used when washing.
After a quick rinse, you’re onto the final step.
Drying your car
You can use a dryer designed exclusively for car detailing, but a basic electric leaf blower works quite well. Start at the top and work your way down, paying close attention around mirrors and door handles where water may have pooled.
